In this short animation from 2009, “Alexander,” I tell the story of a lone rancher who lives on a distant planet with his pet dinosaur. When the dinosaur runs away, the rancher must embark on a journey through a perilous landscape to find their beloved companion. Through this story, I aim to explore themes of isolation and the human desire for connection. The dangerous and unforgiving environment of the distant planet serves as a metaphor for the challenges and obstacles that can come from living a solitary life. The rancher’s love for their pet dinosaur is a reminder of the need for companionship and the lengths we will go to find it. This film is a cautionary tale about the dangers of isolation and the importance of forging connections with others.
